Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov confirmed that Ukraine started receiving gas from Europe, RIA Novosti reports.
Naftogaz and RWE Supply&Trading (Germany) signed a contract to supply Ukraine with gas from Poland. Ukraine will receive 1.4 billion cubic meters of gas annually. The quantity may reach 4-5 billion cubic meters in the future. The Ukrainian Ministry for Energy and Coal Industry reported reception of the first 3.3 million cubic meters of gas.
Ukraine plans to reduce purchases of gas from Russia from 52 billion to 27 billion cubic meters this year. Russia says that Ukraine should have warned it about changes in gas supplies half a year ahead.
