Poland will not engage in any new energy projects related to Russian
gas, Polish Minister of the State Treasury Mikołaj Budzanovsky, supervising
the energy sector in the government, said in a radio broadcast. "I
will never agree to the creation of any space for additional Russian
gas within Poland, it will never happen," Budzanovsky said.
His statement was a reaction to a recent statement made by the deputy head
of Polish PGNiG, Radoslaw Dudzinsky, on possible new Polish-Russian
energy projects due to lower prices on Russian gas offered by Gazprom.
At the same time, the minister noted a substantial discount on gas made
by Gazprom for Poland. As a result, Poland will pay $3.7
billion a year for gas instead of the previous $4.6 billion.
