Mangistau prosecutors have prohibited the use of five ships in the Caspian Sea for violating safety regulations. The crew of one of the ships covering up an emergency situation, two ships had malfunctioning equipment, News Kazakhstan reports.
The “Aktobe” and “Atyrau” tankers of Kazmortransflot were exploited with malfunctioning hydrocompasses and navigation systems.
Over 30 ship companies operate in the Mangistau Region of Kazakhstan. They have over 1,700 small and 280 large ships registered.
There have been no naval accidents in Kazakhstan this year, but there were two emergency situations and four exploitation problems.
The prosecutors punished 15 people and fined ship owners with 2 million tenge.
