Turkmenistan stops gas deliveries to Iran

Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said on Wednesday that Turkmenistan stopped exporting gas to Iran, the Mehr News Agency reported.

The two sides have not come to terms on purchase conditions, Qasemi said, adding that the imports of natural gas may be resumed if an agreement is reached.

On Sunday, ISNA reported that Iran has put in a request for increasing imports of natural gas from Turkmenistan up to 40 million cubic meters per day.

Iran imports 15-18 million cubic meters of gas per day from Turkmenistan, but the figure reaches 30 million cubic meters during winter.
