Russia becomes leader of oil extraction

 

Russia has become the world leader in oil extraction, outrunning Saudi Arabia, Interfax reports.

According to the Joint Organisations Data Initiative (JODI), Russia was extracting 10 million barrels of oil daily in September, Saudi Arabia was falling behind by 280,000 barrels.

The Russian Energy Ministry said that the country was extracting 10.39 million barrels of oil daily in September.

JODI processes data from ministries of 90 countries and 6 international organizations.
