Turkmenistan to desalinate Caspian

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has created a
state commission to build desalination plants on the coast of the
Caspian Sea. The commission will improve the water supply to the Balkan

province and supplies of fresh water to the agricultural sector.

The Balkan province is located in the Caspian Sea region and has
strategic importance for the national economy. In the region there are
major plants of the state concern "Turkmenneft", the country's largest
oil refinery and a major sea port, as well as the tourist resort "Avaz".
