The EU summit to discuss the budget plan for 2014-2020 started at 11 pm, delayed by 5-6 hours, and lasted an hour. President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy did not rule out longer discussions, RIA Novosti reports.
President of the European Parliament Martin Schultz reminded about the need for compromise.
The summit will reopen at 12 pm.
The budget for 2014-2020 was presented a year ago. Amendments to the budget were introduced in mid-2012 with account of Croatia joining the organization in 2013. Expenses stated in the budget will total €988 billion, income will total €1.03 trillion. The budget is essential for unemployment reduction.
