Turkey needs to have a constant reserve of 4 billion cubic meters of gas. It has consumed 40 billion cubic meters this year.
A Botas spokesman Gazi Dulger said that Turkey will build gas reservoirs for the said volume by 2019. The gas-holdervat Lake Tuz will store a billion cubic meters of gas from 12 boreholes.
The project worth $640 million is realized by China Tianchen Engineering Corporation.
Turkey has only one gas-holder in Silivri, belonging to TPAO. It may hold 2.6 billion cubic meters.
