Turkey will increase its oil production by means of foreign deposits - in particular, the country's Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said today that the state intends to purchase multiple fields at the Fizan block in Libya. This will substantially cut Turkey's dependence on Iranian oil.
Yildiz said that Turkey currently imports one million tons of Libyan oil a year, and is ready to increase that amount. In addition, Turkey is interested in oil exploration in Algeria - according to the minister, the state oil and gas company will take part in the relevant tender together with the Algerian company Sonatrach.
