Novgorod starts trial of businessman

The Novgorod District Court in the Novgorod Region is renewing a case against industrialist Telman Mkhitaryan. Judge Mikhail Tarasov on the case since December 4, 2012, has been replaced with Alexey Stanovsky, the court’s spokeswoman Natalya Kazantseva said.

Mkhitaryan and entrepreneur Kravchenko have been suspects since 2008. They are charged with racketeering in 1998-2004 and violations against electronic factories Spektr and Novgorodkhleb. The factories were purchased for about 48 million rubles. Mkhitaryan had property worth over 97 million rubles arrested. Mkhitaryan was arrested in Yerevan in 2010.

His case consists of 47 volumes. He may get 7-15 years of prison and be fined with 1 million rubles.
