Georgia plunges into deflation

According to the Georgian Statistics Service, Georgia experienced deflation
of 1.6% in January 2013 compared with January 2012.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages in January fell by 2.7%,
while the cost of housing, water, electricity and natural gas went
down by 6.5%. Prices for transportation also dropped by 0.5%.

However, prices for healthcare services have increased by 2.7% and
prices for hotels and restaurants by 3.1%.
