Turkmenistan has formed a working group to consider prospects of joining the World Trade Organization, as ordered by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in January.
The group will analyze numerous trade agreements, including the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS).
President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso had visited Ashkhabad and offered Turkmenistan to join the WTO 2 years ago to increase the country’s share in regional and global trade and benefit its economy.
