Georgian Ministry for Finances studies investigation illegal car sale

 

The Georgian Ministry for Finances has started investigation of the case of Giya Tortladze, Director of the De-occupation Center, suspected of wasting funds provided by the Culture Ministry.

According to the investigation, the Culture Ministry granted about $211,500 to Tortladze for the Georgia Without Occupation project and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado worth $63,200 on September 5, 2012. The official sold the car last Monday for $50,000, taking the money for himself.

He may now get 7-11 years of conviction for the fraud.
