Islamabad is hosting talks of Iranian Petroleum Minister Rostam Ghasemi and Pakistani Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Asim Hussain today to discuss construction of a gas pipeline.
The Iranian minister will discuss the matter with Pakistani prime minister tomorrow. Ghasemi will present a message of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the PM.
Iran plans to grant Pakistan a loan of $500 million for the construction. 300km of the pipeline will run through Iran and 700km through Pakistan. It is expected to be launched in March 2014 and provide Pakistan with 7.8 billion cubic meters of gas a year, or 21.5 million daily.
