Russia to support direct dialogue between US and Iran on nuclear issue

Russia does not object to a direct dialogue between the United States
and Iran on the nuclear issue, but believes that the participants must
keep it transparent, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei
Ryabkov stated today.

The diplomat said that transparency is necessary to ensure that no
regulations which might be potentially harmful to Russia are taken.
Ryabkov said that Washington has not yet reached an agreement with
Tehran, but he also stressed that the format of negotiations between
the six international mediators and Iran is still valid. The six
international powers will meet next time in Almaty on February 26.
