An emergency regime has been introduced in North Ossetia by request of the Ministry of Agriculture due a cotton budworm threat, the head of the press-service of the Emergency Ministry of North Ossetia, Yulia Starchenko, told RIA Novosti.
The regime was introduced on July 23rd at 13.00 Moscow time. The cotton budworm is destroying corn, sunflower and other crops. Almost 100% of agriculture has been affected. The Paravoberezhniy, Mozdokskiy and Ardonskiy regions suffered the most. The cotton budworm is a threat to 120 kinds of cultures and wild plants, including cotton, corn, chickpea, tomato, ambari, tobacco and soya.
