Construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline (TAPI) goes according to schedule, RIA Novosti cites Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov after a conference with leaders of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
The project needs realization of two stages. Bangkok was having a meeting of Turkmen, Afghan, Pakistani and Indian officials to discuss formation of a joint company.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai said that Kabul will do its best to secure TAPI.
The pipeline will be over 1,700km long with a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually. It starts in Turkmenistan, runs through Afghanistan and Pakistan and reaches India’s Fazilka on the Pakistani-Indian border, according to plan.
