Turkey may invest $12 billion in thermal power plants

 

TAQA (United Arab Emirates) plans to build and modernize thermal power plants in Turkey, investing $12 billion, Hurriyet reports.

Spokesman of the company Tom Terlink said that a new power plant will be built in Afsin-Elbistan before the end of 2014. The next power plant will be built in the second half of 2014.

Over 10,000 workplaces will open at the power plants.

Turkey and the United Arab Emirates signed a cooperation agreement for coal extraction and power plant construction at Afsin-Elbistan in January 2013. The area has 40% of Turkish coal reserves.
