Orbital Sciences (US manufacturer of Azerspace-1, the first Azerbaijani satellite) gave Azercosmos control over the satellite, the agency’s website reports.
The Satellite has the main ground control center and another one in the NakhcivanAutonomy.
Azercosmos plans to make $420 million by exploiting the satellite. It will pay off in 5-7 years.
Azerbaijan signed a contract with Orbital Sciences Corporation in May 2010 to build the satellite and a contract with MEASAT to use the orbital position of the satellite. It was launched from Kourou in the Guiana Space Center of France.
