Sergey Kiriyenko, Director General of Russia’s Rosatom, said that the nuclear power plant in Bushehr (Iran) was operating normally, despite the earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 points.
The official noted that the power plant was capable of withstanding even an earthquake with a magnitude of 9 points.
The earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 points was registered 100km away from the power plant on April 9. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed in Iran. 37 people died and about 850 were injured. The IAEA was informed that the nuclear facility was undamaged.
