Armenia will not build new energy block at Metsamor nuclear power plant

The Armenian government has decided to extend the lifespan of the second energy block and improve its safety instead of building another one at the Metsamor nuclear power plant.

According to earlier plans, existing energy blocks will be shut down in 2018 and replaced with the third one. Rosatom was to build the block with an output of 1060MW and a lifespan of 60 years.
