The republic's authorities also proposed extending the line to the city of Karachaevsk, so that tourists could easily reach the world-famous resorts of Dombay and Arkhyz.In 2012, the President of Russia instructed the Russian government, together with "Russian Railways", to submit proposals for the creation of a high-speed passenger rail service between the airport in Mineral Waters and the city of Karachaevsk.
