Ashkhabad is hosting the three-day 4th International Gas Congress today, attended by Summit trade Events (UK), Trend reports.
500 officials from 32 countries are attending the talks. They will discuss the Galkynysh Gas Field, role of Turkmen gas, cooperation of countries extracting and consuming gas, development of gas fields.
The previous year’s congress was attended by over 400 officials of 32 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Belgium, US, Canada, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Japan, UAE, Indonesia, Iran, Turkey and others.
Turkmenistan extracts about 70-80 billion cubic meters of gas annually and exports it to Russia and Iran. The route to China was closed in 2009. Turkmenistan has the fourth largest gas reserves.
38 fields of oil, 82 of gas condensate and 153 of gas (142 on surface and 11 in Caspian Sea), have been discovered in Ingushetia. The South Yeloten-Osman Field was discovered in the Mary Region.
