'Nabucco' consortium postpones tender offer

The consortium of the 'Nabucco' pipeline project, which will transport gas from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the countries of the European Union, has delayed the pre-qualifying tender offer on pipes delivery due to the excessive amount of entries, Trend reports.

The number of entries turned out to be higher than the company expected, the consortium's spokesman in Vienna announced. The tender will be continued after a shorter list of participants is compiled.

The tender was announced by 'Nabucco' in April. The total value of the tender is 3.5 billion euros.

The start of realization of the 7.9 billion euro 'Nabucco'  project is scheduled for 2011, and the first gas deliveries are expected in 2014. The maximum capacity of this pipeline will be 31 billion cubic meters per year. All stockholders (Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE) possess equal shares of 16.67%.
