Prosecutors of the Stavropol Territory say that purchase of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado off-roaders by the local parliament for 6.7 million rubles was a violation of the law on efficient expenditures.
The vehicles cost 2.22 million rubles each. Yuri Bely of the United Russia Party said that the cars were needed to move through territories with bad roads.
The LDPR demanded the contract on purchase of the vehicles to be scrapped. The sum should be spent on housing and utilities, healthcare, road construction.
The region has a debt of 15 billion rubles.
