Russia bans Georgia's Imedi-96 wines

Alcohol products of Imedi-96 have been banned in Russia, Interfax cites Russian Chief Sanitary Inspector Gennady Onishchenko as saying.

Three wines of Shukhman Wines and five cognacs of Brothers Askaneli were banned in Russia earlier. A total of 17 types of alcohol products of Georgia were banned in Russia.

25 Georgian manufacturers of  334 types of products and two companies producing mineral water sent samples of their products to Russia for registry on March 14 – June 13. 152 products of 12 Georgian alcohol companies have received state licenses. 81 samples of 7 manufacturers are undergoing tests.

The first 20,000 bottles of Georgian cognac were sent to Russia by the Kakheti Traditional Wine-Making, Georgian Minister for Agriculture Levan Davitashvili said.

Russia had the first inspection of Georgian manufacturers of wine and mineral water in February and early March. Onishchenko said on May 31 that a million of excise labels were purchased.
