Major shipowner fined for transporting cargo to Iran and Sudan

The American subsidiary of Danish AP Moller-Maersk, the world's major ship-owning company in the world, is facing a 3.09 million dollar fine for breaking US sanctions against Iran and Sudan, Maitime Bulletin informs.


Maersk Line Ltd has acknowledged its guilt and expressed its regret. The initial sum of the fine was 61.77 million dollars, but it was reduced due to the company’s cooperation with the authorities. The company carried out cargo deliveries to Iran in the period of 2003 – 2007.
