The Greek Assets Development Fund has been satisfied with the improved offer of SOCAR Azerbaijan to purchase DESFA, the operator of the national gas supply network. The fund's board of directors has decided to proceed with the necessary actions to complete the transaction as quickly as possible.
35% of DESFA is now owned by Hellenic Petroleum, 31% by the government of Greece. The government will receive $188 million from the sale of its stake in the company. The Russian company "Synthesis" and the Greek-Czech investment company PPF-Terna, were also interested in DESFA, but both withdrew this month.
