Dagestan prioritizes trade with Turkey

Dagestani Minister for Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Yusup Umavov said at a forum entitled “North Caucasus of the Russian Federation Eastern Black Sea of the Turkish Republic” in Trabzon last week that the republic wanted to intensify trade with Turkey, RIA Dagestan reports.

Trade turnover between the two states increased fourfold in the past years and reached $47 million ($22.15 million of export and $25.5 million of import) in 2012.

The minister noted the role of the Dagestan Turkey Forum held in Istanbul in April 2013, attended by over 60 Turkish companies.

The Dagestani ministry plans to open a Trade Office in Turkey to represent manufacturers and entrepreneurs of Dagestan in Turkey.
