The WB granted Azerbaijan $220 million yesterday to finance the Rail Trade and Transport Facilitation Project, 1news.az cites Henry Kerali, WB regional director for South Caucasus.
The funds will be spent on reconstruction of railways, power supply and alarms on the railway section from Baku to the Georgian border.
$450 million were granted for the initiative on March 27, 2008.
The Azerbaijani Railways is the beneficiary of the project.
The WB has financed 54 projects worth about $3 billion in Azerbaijan since 1992.
