Abdulreza Karbasi, deputy head of the Directorate for Ecology and Environment of Iran, said that swimming in the Caspian Sea should be banned due to high pollution levels, Trend reports.
The sea is polluted by petroleum, industrial and household waste. Karbasi noted that 12% of pollution in the sea was caused by Iran. 400 million cubic meters of waste in the sea come from Iran, 40% of it is filtered.
