Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev gave control over the Norilsk-1 deposit to the Amur Gold-Mining Cooperative, a subsidiary of Russkaya Platina of Musa Bajayev, Vedomosti reports.
Norilsk-1 has 78 million tons of valuable metals. The company won the tender for extraction on June 15, 2012. Norilsk Nikel filed a lawsuit against the tender results. The idea of Russian Minister for Natural Resources Sergey Donskoy to replace the tender with an auction was scrapped. Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Buksman said that the government was authorized to fix results of auctions, not tenders.
