No catastrophe expected over petrol price increase, expert says

According to recently-published statistics prices for petrol increased by 20 percent in June. The head of the National Energy Safety Fund, Konstantin Simonov, believes the increase will not lead to a catastrophe.

The expert noted, however, that the situation surrounding the petrol market in Russia is indeed complicated. The oil market as well as the gas market is unstable, he explains.

Simonov underlined that one half of the state's income is provided by oil and gas exports and this should be taken into consideration.
