Skyscraper construction harms Yerevan

The Chairman of the Armenian Architects Union, Mkrtich Minasyan, declared that the high concentration of multistory buildings in the center of Yerevan is a violation of construction and seismic standards, as well as a threat to the health of the capital's residents, News.am reports.

The architect protests the construction that has destroyed parking zones within the city. These zones are vitally important in Armenia's climatic conditions, combined with the growth of Yerevan's population, caused by the economic situation in the country.
Mr  Minasyan generally approved of the new buildings’ anti-seismic characteristics, but noted that rescue operations would be considerably complicated there.

The chairman also touched on the issue of Charentsavan, which risks becoming a ‘ghost town’ due to the collapse of its industry
