Iranian candidate for minister of industry urges higher productivity

Mohammed Reza Nematzade, 68, a candidate for Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade, said that Iranian industrial parks were only half-efficient, Trend reports.

He said that industry and mining were accumulating about 37-40% of the GDP and their development should be prioritized. The official assured MPs that he will focus on private, state and foreign investments in industry. Problems that existed in the field were a matter of culture and society, he added.

The candidate commented on his age, stating that 35 years of experience helped him develop leadership skills.

Nematzade was Minister for Industry, Mining and Trade in 1989-1997. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani introduced him for the office again.
