Fire at Bulla-Deniz oil field is localized

SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has localized the fire in the exploration well in the "Bulla-Deniz" field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian sea and stopped its horizontal spread, a statement issued by SOCAR reads.

The fire broke out at exploration well number 90 in the north-east wing of the "Bulla-Deniz" field on August 17. The sea depth at the field is 26.5 m. According to SOCAR, fire occurred while drilling at a depth of 5868 m. On August 17, at 22:30 MSK, there was an open gas blowout, followed by the start of a fire. 62 employees have been evacuated from the platforms, there are no casualties.
