Iranian pistachio production is dropping by 10% every year and may force Iran to start importing the nuts if the process continues for 10 years, Trend cites Mohsen Jalalpur, head of the Association of Iranian Pistachio Growers.
The official said that Iran had pistachios growing on 300,000 hectares. About 30,000 hectares of the land suffered from climate changes.
Jalalpur expects the country to produce 170,000 tons of pistachios this year.
