Beeline officer open in Chechnya

Beeline’s Vimpelcom has opened its offices in Chechnya, RIA Novosti reports.

Unidentified assailants threw eggs at a Vimpelcom office in Grozny on August 30. All its offices in Chechnya were closed on August 31 for the safety of its personnel and clients.

Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov said on August 31 that the republic was switching to its Vaynakh Telecom mobile phone operator as a response to Beeline and MegaFon’s failure to count sms votes given to the Heart of Chechnya Mosque in the Russia 10 Contest.

Kadyrov called it obvious fraud. He said that about 50 million votes were given on August 29-30, which totaled about a third of all votes given in the past 6 months.
