Victor Matveyev, Director General of Tekhnoprom, has been arrested on the order of the Tverskoy Court of Moscow as a suspect of stealing 53 million rubles, Interfax reports.
Investigators say that Olimpstroy and Tekhnoprom signed a contract for engineering services in construction of Sochi Olympic facilities. The contract is worth 400 million rubles. They believe that Matveyev presented fake construction schemes to get extra 53 million rubles.
Matveyev was hospitalized to the Almazov Federal Center for Heart, Blood and Endocrinology right after the criminal case had started. He left the hospital three days later and disappeared. Being on the federal wanted list, he was caught trying to flee the country on August 31.
Tekhnoprom is headquartered in Saint Petersburg. It opened an office in 2009.
