Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev said today that the choice of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline to deliver gas from Shah Deniz (1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves) to Europe did not rule out realization of the Nabucco West project, Trend reports.
He expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will extract 40 billion cubic meters of gas a year after 2020.
The TAP will deliver Caspian gas to Western Europe through Greece, Albania, Adriatic Sea, Italy. The initial capacity of the pipeline will total 10 billion cubic meters and will have potential for expansion to 20 billion cubic meters. Construction of the pipeline will start in 2015. AXPO (Switzerland) and Statoil (Norway) own 42.5% of shares in the project each, E.ON Ruhrgas (Germany) owns 15%.
