World Petroleum Congress to improve image of Kazakhstan

Jambulat Sarsenov, deputy head of KAZENERGY, said at a meeting with Karen Agustivian, President and Executive Director of Pertamina (Indonesia), that hosting the 22nd World Petroleum Congress in Astana in 2017 will be an important reputational project for Kazakhstan, Trend reports.

Sarsenov presented the project for the congress to Pertamina  to the Pertamina delegation. He added that the World Petroleum Congress can be merged with EXPO-2017.

Houston (US), Istanbul (Turkey), Copenhagen (Denmark) bid to host the congress. The choice will be made in Calgary (Canada) on October 23, 2013.

The World Petroleum Congress is organized by the World Petroleum Council. It is attended by ABB, General Electric, Siemens, Honeywall, Saudi Aramco, Petrobras, CNPC, Sonatrach, Gazprom, LUKOIL, BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, PDVSA, Schlumberger, Shell, Total, Qatar Petroleum.

Kazakhstan joined the World Petroleum Council in 1997.
