Thedeputy minister for roads and transport, the head of the Organization for Roads and Car Transport, Shakhiyar Efendi-zade, emphasized the updating of the public transport park with 13,000 new cars this year at a meeting with journalists, Iran News reports.
This includes 9,000 lorries, 2,500 minibuses and 1,500 buses.
Efendi-zade said that the average useful life of the buses is reaching 13 years, when it should be 10 years. The minibus park has an average useful life of 23 years. Such a situation cannot be called satisfactory.
The useful life of freight vehicles is approximately 18 years. This indicator will be reduced to 10 years within the framework of the fifth 5-year program of the development of the country (2005-2015).
Efendi-zade said that the public transport park received 10,000 vehicles, including buses, minibuses and cars.
