Iran will import Russia’s Lada Kalina and Lada Granta. Mohammad Bayat, a member of the board of Rahbar, said that Iranwill import them as soon as the Iranian Institute for Standardization and Industrial Research grants permission, Trend reports.
Iran imported about 17,000 cars in the past five months. The import of cars increased by 8.1%, compared with the same period last year. Imports of cars with engines of over 2500 cubic cm were banned in Iran in early 2013.
He list of vehicles permitted for imports published in May 2013 includes about 25 brands, including Italy’s Fiat and Alfa Romeo, China’s SAIC Motor, Sweden’s Volvo, South Korea’s Kia and Hyundai, Japan’s Honda and Mitsubishi.
