Russian embargo boosts Georgian wine production

Frederik Paulsen Jr., co-founder of the Marussia Beverages, Russian Honorary Consul in Lausanne, scientist, businessman, philanthropist, and Andrey Khizhchenko, Director General of Marussia Beverages RUS and an alcohol-distribution expert, have discussed progress of Georgian wine industry on the Russian market.

Russian sanitary inspectors concluded the latest inspection at Georgian wine companies on Friday.

Paulsen and Khizhehcnko said that many companies were unprepared for the lift of embargo against Georgian wine in Russia. Tastes of Russian consumers changed and the only way Georgian manufacturers could satisfy the new preferences was by improving quality, taste and implementation of new technologies, the experts said.

Paulsen noted that the first portion of 30,000 bottles of Georgian wine were at the customs office. 75,000 more bottles will arrived in Russia before the New Year.
