Iran starts development of South Pars field

Iranian Oil Minister Bijanov Namdar Zanganeh has issued three orders, aimed at promoting the development of the South Pars field.

According to one of these, the contractors must first complete development phases 12, 15, 16, 17 and 18 of the South Pars gas field, Trend reports with reference to the agency Mehr News.

The second order of the Minister called on the contractors to complete assembling the equipment for the project.

Zanganeh stressed that "if the offshore wells, pipelines and drilling rigs will be operational before the onset of winter, the Ministry will be able to process gas from the South Pars field at the old Bidboland and Fajr-e-Jam refinery.

South Pars is located in the Persian Gulf. It is the largest gas field in the world and is owned by Iran and Qatar.
