Iranian banks to reconsider currency policy

In response to the declaration in the ‘Tehrane emruz’ newspaper (Tehran Today) that withdrawal of Iranian deposits from banks of non-friendly countries is unprofessional policy of the Central Bank, the Central Bank of Iran said that resisting unilateral sanctions against the Iranian banking system will require reconsideration of the currency policy, Iran News reports, citing IRIB news.

‘Tehrane emruz’ did not take into account Iran's national interests when making the declaration.

The Central Bank decided to preserve currency reserves using various means and approaches in interacting with foreign states. The bank is trying to avoid closing or freezing accounts or reducing currency reserves in the country.
