Iran is ready to organize gas transit through Transcaspian countries

Iran has all it needs for exchange deals and transit supplies of gas from four Transcaspian states through Iranian territory, according to an engineer for Iranian gas export, Asgar Sokheylipur, IranNews reports. He said that Iran provides a territorial benefit for exchange deals.

Sokheylipur noted that gas exports to Europe through Turkey are a priority today. Another route for Iranian gas to Europe could lie through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine, taking into account their readiness to participate in such supplies. Iran is continuing negotiations with Turkmenistan about exchange deals and transit of gas through Iran. Other partners that Iran could work with are the Arabic countries of the Persian and Oman Gulfs, Pakistan and India.

So far, Iran and Azerbaijan have had no problems in mutual cashless transfers. Sokheylipur said that the sides agreed to increase pipeline capacity on the first stage to 2.5 mil cubic m and on the second – to 5 mil cubic m daily.
