Iran admits excess of enriched uranium

The volumes of stockpiled uranium enriched to 20% in Iran increased from 324kg in May to 372.5kg late August, according to the IAEA. The volumes may become a subject for talks with six mediators (Russia, US, UK, France, China and Germany) in Geneva on October 15-16.

Speaker of the Iranian Parliament said at the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva yesterday that Iran had more uranium than it needed.

Western states demand Iran halts uranium enrichment to 20% and shut down the Fordow facility. The US, Israel and a set of other states accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons. Iran insists that the program is peaceful.
