At the request of the president of South Ossetia, Eduard Kokoyta, the Economic Security Department of the Russian Federation's Interior Ministry will monitor the spending of reconstruction funding, acting executive of the economic security department, Ilya Falinsky, informed "Novosti-Georgia". "The recovery process is now under the control of the Russian Federation. The Economic Security department is monitoring the process as part of the Regional Development Ministry's group of experts. We have already achieved some results. We will check the expenditure of every ruble", claimed Falinsky during a meeting with the president of South Ossetia in Vladikavkaz.
Kokoyta pointed out in his opening speech that law-enforcement authorities have already completed a considerable amount of work controlling the spending of funds allocated to South Ossetia. He also said that such inspections are greatly needed, especially in a
situation where contractors are involved in reconstruction, as some of them, having been fully financed, haven't carried out their obligations. "Law-enforcement agencies are checking those contractors who have taken responsibility for building facilities intended for
social needs, but still haven't submitted accounts on work completed. There are 12 such organizations", said Falinsky.
Kokoyta pointed out that, thanks to the monitoring of expenditure, more than 1.5 billion rubles were saved in the past year.
