Russia to secure Armenian nuclear power plant

Russia’s Rosatom will improve security of the second energy block of the Armenian nuclear power plant in 2014, News.am reports.

Rosatomservis and the nuclear power plant will sign a related deal. Metsamorenergoatom, a Russian-Armenian joint enterprise, will continue construction of a new energy block at the power plant.

Armenia plans to extend terms of exploitation of the power plant from September 2016 to 2026. Russian President Vladimir Putin said after talks with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on September 3 that a project for extension of the plant’s exploitation will be developed.
